Background:  The Monroe County Coalition for Children and Families, Inc. (Family Resource Network) was one of the first five Family Resource Networks funded in West Virginia in 1992.  Since 1992, working teams have planned and are providing much needed resources in our rural county in Southern West Virginia....

Vision:
The Monroe County Coalition for Children and Families (Family Resource Network) envisions a community where each individual and his/her family has the right and are allowed to develop to their fullest capacity/potential.
Mission:  The Monroe County Community Plan will plan, develop, sustain, evaluate and monitor:

  • A comprehensive service system which provides prompt, user friendly, barrier free support, prevention and intervention services.
  • An education system dedicated to providing competent, literate and productive life-long learning opportunitites.
  • Economic stability through identification, enhancement and strengthening of existing assets and resources, providing marketable training, business development, job promotion and infrastructure which supports participatory access.

The above interaction of family and community is being developed in a non-judgemental, ethnic sensitive, income blind system which preserves regional, cultural and family values, building on and supporting the strengths of individuals, family and the community.
